vaca prep kinda weekend!

Happy Monday loves!

So last week kicked me in the butt... so let me please apologize for the lack of love in blogland! Now, let's blow past all the boring stuff and head right to the most exciting part of my week....
 Wednesday we are off to Turks and Caicos!
Woohoo!

I am just a little bit excited , can't you tell?

Friday night I had the loveliest time with my besties! Our get-togethers have been pretty sparse lately because of babies, vacations and life. BUT we vowed at dinner that we would be better and schedule something every month. We ate at Pomegranate in Cary town and let me just say, the food and drinks were amazing! The only thing I have to complain about is that the restaurant was too dark for quality picture taking.... My besties were so thoughtful when they presented me with my birthday presents. They wanted to get me something to support this blog and surprised me with a tripod and remote for my camera. I simply could not ask for 3 better ladies to be in my life.

The rest of the weekend was spent in full vaca-prep-mode. That meant spending our Saturday running around town checking tasks off on the ole "to-do" list.

First thing we did was meet Ashley, our new puppy/house sitter. It was so great to see how much she loved our pups and made me feel so much better about being out of the country. She prob thinks I am a wacko with all the directions and information I spewed out but our pups are sorta cra cra.

We then ventured out to Shortpump to brave the tax free weekend....not the best idea we have ever had BUT we scored some great deals! AND I am happy to report that all we checked everything off our list and then some....my husband was not so happy that we picked up the extra items.
sorry.i.am.not.sorry.

Saturday night, Reid and I decided to feast on popcorn and Sprite for dinner at the Westhampton Theater. We saw Begin Again, you know that movie which debuts Adam Levine's acting career? It was actually a great movie and I would highly recommend. This is our second movie at this theater and we are in love. The movies that play there are a little artsy but fabulous! Plus this theater has an old school feel that makes you appreciate what going to movies must have been like back in the day.
(the song "Let's go to the movies" from Annie is now playing on repeat in my head)
AND since Sweet Frog is in walking distance, how could we not resist?

Sunday was filled with laundry, packing, getting nails did, more Target and eating wings. Sounds like a pretty successful Sunday huh?

Check back in tomorrow... I am sharing what's in my suite case!

(Lily finds included!)

Oh Hey Friday!

Happy Friday folks!

I am certainly ready for the weekend and ready for a new week. This one has sorta kicked my butt. But the weekend is now here and that is super exciting! So let's celebrate to all the wins, not the losses, from this week!
(however teeny tiny they actually are)

{grown up work bag}

Small win!
I think I have finally decided on a new work bag. Currently, I tote around a pink and navy Scout bag. While it is super cute and my laptop fits perfectly, along with all my other crap, it is not that grown up looking. I roll up to mangers meetings with my tote in tow and mine is the only one with polka dots.... hmmm.
Enter Madwell's Transport Tote.

 I am slightly obsessed with this tote. It looks like it will fit my laptop, my day planner and whatever paperwork I am working on at the moment. But I am not sure on the color. I absolutely love the English Saddle but feel like the True Black would be better for work.
Please help me decide!

{we finalized plans for our upcoming trips}

I think this is a big win, since I am the most indecisive person that ever existed.
We have finalized, booked, paid for and planned all most of our upcoming travel plans. The only thing left to do for our Turks and Caicos trip is to book a couple restaurant reservations and pack. Hallelujah!

{new face routine and make up }

Another big win in my book.
I will admit that I do not have the best night or morning routine. I used to never wash my face before slipping off to bed and hardly ever put on makeup for work. I am happy to announce that I have been making a very conscious effort to do both this week!
I have been loving this new face stuff from Elemis and can't wait to share my product reviews with you next week. Also, the bronzer in my Ipsy bag this month is AH-MAZ-ING!

 {new fav place to dine}

Yup, another win!
Reid and I have been dying to try this Indian restaurant in Cary Town called Curry Craft and our dreams came true this past Wednesday night. We have not been to the grocery store in like 2 weeks, so needless to say, selections at home were slim pickins. It was a hot and sticky night in RVA and both our days were just blah....so we hopped in the car and decided to have a little impromptu date night. I am pretty much in love with this restaurant. It was super clean and the service was great. The pricing was very reasonable and the food had tremendous flavor! We will def be back...soon!

clearly, we hated it!

Reid and I are planning a fun filled weekend in Richmond, full of farmers markets, research for our upcoming bathroom remodels and probably a bunch of really unhealthy food!

Weekending

Is it Monday already? Time just flew by this weekend for us but I am happy to report that we were super productive and had a happy weekend.

Here is a quick recap on our weekend:

{Friday Night}

We had the best dinner at Saison with our pals Anna and Jeremy. This was our first trip to this quaint little restaurant and definitely not our last. From the moment we walked up, it was pretty much love at first sight. The delicious aroma, the "oh-so-Richmond" vibe, the old over sized bar and the fact that there were probably only 10 tables made me instantly feel like "This is my new fav place". We were seated right away and handed the most amazing menu. They use old books and insert their ever changing menu in the first couple pages. How clever is that? While their food menu is on the small side, their cocktail, beer and wine menu is not. Everything we had was delish and we are already planning our next trip back!

{Saturday}

Well, I had to work on Saturday but we had a great group of girls and the day just flew by. After work and a quick change into some comfy clothes, we were off to my brother and SIL's house to babysit the munchkins. Libbie and Palmer were just perfect and precious in every way. It is so nice there were two of us and two of them. Palmer and Reid were two peas in a pod, playing baseball in the back yard, having a "boys only, no girls allowed" convo and even a little bike riding. I enjoyed my "girl time" with Libbie. She is really something these days, babbling and blowing bubbles. And that smile! I say this all the time, but boy are we blessed with a such a sweet niece and nephew!
(Picture quality is bad I know, sorry! I only had my phone!)

{Sunday}

This was one of the most productive days we have had in a long time. We, I mean Reid, finally finished painting the guest bedroom and what a difference a coat of paint and primer makes! While Reid was painting away, I was off running a million errands. I had a HomeGoods gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket and a guest bathroom that needed some TLC. Check, that place always delivers. Grocery store, check. Target again, check. Home, to display all my pretty and very reasonable finds. I also installed the Target curtains in our bedroom and I think I love them. I need to grab some tiebacks and have had my eye on these for quite a while. Is it bad that the tiebacks are more than the curtains?

I can't wait to show you the finished product from all our hard work on Sunday, so be on the lookout. Ashley will be here tomorrow to fill us all in on what's trending these days!

A special thanks to Biana and Meghan for hosting their Weekending link up!

Dinner Anyone?

It was a Saturday night, I had just worked 10-5 and Reid and I were long over due for dinner and a movie. We decided at 6pm that we were going to shoot for the 7:50 showing of We're the Millers, which is laugh out loud, clap your hands, snort kind of funny.

But where to eat? Reid and I are always in this predicament!

Since Richmond is known for their diverse food culture, we try really hard to not choose a chain restaurant. But with so many cool places to choose from we usually PANIC and end up at the same old stand bys because Reid is now starving and I am so indecisive.

That night we actually ended up at a great new restaurant in the ever thriving Scott's Addition area called En Su Boca. Don't worry, I have a post coming soon with our rave review! Even Reid is getting used to this blogging thing and now asks if I need to take a pic before he can eat. What a sweet hubby!

Our indecisiveness got us thinking....Why don't we compile a list of places that we want to try, try them and then let Virginia Sweet in on the juicy details?

Here is what we have thus far in no particular order:
En Su Boca
The Roosevelt
New American Tap House
Pearls Raw Bar
The daily Bar
Heritage
Blue Goat (new menu)
Curry Craft
Estilo
Café Rustica
Black Sheep
Lunch

We are defiantly taking suggestions of other places to add to our list - any ideas?

See y'all tomorrow for another southern send-off!

Till then Loves,

CAD
